Water projects down stream have drawn down the lake. Its lake shore
is exposed in all of its rawness, kind of like what visitors experience
when they see Lake Granby, especially in the Spring. The drawdown
does make it much easier to walk along the lake than it used to be.
Visitors have created their own memories by stacking small stone
columnsusing the many interesting rocks along the shore.

In front of the splendor, note the water pipe drawing water from the lake just as in Grand Lake's olden days.

We did not see much wildlife.
The very long running human presence in the Himalayas has pushed back
its wildlife to the most remote areas. The informational map shown
on the first page of this presentation shows a tiger. There are legends of
tigers being sighted here long ago. As with Grand Lake, if one does have
the opportunity to hike into the deep backcountry, there is the chance of
seeing or hearing evidence of wild cats, or perhaps a bear. Far more
likely, you'll meet the town dog or roving pigs and yaks!

There is rain, lots of rain in the summer. Views are best in April and May.
