Beyond Photography
Preamble 6/6/98: Life and nature can be infinitely rich and meaningful.
How can you immerse yourself into every moment, like an artist, and
become aware of your myriad involvements and relationships?
Let's start with a simple art, mix in some science and fables
and discover just how far we can journey ....

Photography is a wonderful medium but even at its best, it can only hint
at what really exists. The difference between a snapshot and a work of art
is that art evokes. It helps you see more and be more. Precisely what is
summoned is hard to control. There is an artist in each of us that filters
and colors our world. Our complex emotions mediate our senses. Our overall
sense of being depends on innumerable details and distractions, but deep inside,
one's religious attitude and background influence one's perceptions.

A photograph seems to be a very honest way of showing nature, homes and
people. However, it is not sufficient for showing what nature really is. We
can have sculptures that we can walk around or feel in our hands, but these
direct images still will not reveal the mystery of existence. To go deeper and
get behind the scenes, artists use their imagination and create bizarre images.
Is this necessary? Is it healthy?
