Only parts of the trail are within site of the Colorado River. You are
so close to river's source, that it looks like a small creek. The flow of the
creeks on the west side of the valley from the snowy Never Summer
Mountains has been intercepted and carried away from the river since
the early 1900's. There are many deer and elk to see. The deer have
almost become tame.
