Journey to the Valley of the Lambs. With fair weather, this is a
very easy family walk. It takes just 30 or 40 minutes to reach the
high saddle from which you can look down into the next valley
and across to the very close Never Summer Mountains.
The trail head is by Poudre Lake, a few hundred yards NE of the
Continental Divide -- Milner Pass sign on Hwy. 34 from Grand Lake
to Estes Park. Your starting elevation is 10,750' , deep in Rocky Mountain
National Park along Trail Ridge Road. The saddle is about 11,450' high.
From the saddle, one can walk a short ways to one's left (south) to a
point at 11,618'. The entire rest of the area and beyond is closed
so that the lambs and their extended families will not be disturbed.
