The patio warms up quickly in the morning and then gives one fine views at the close of each day. Scroll down to explore

Fresh snow-melt descends from Continental Divide and collects in Lake Granby where pumps reverse the downward fall and send
as much as 500 cubic feet of water per second into this canal raised high enough to let the water seemingly flow uphill to Shadow Mountain Lake.
The strong flow keeps this channel free of ice all winter and makes for excellent kayaking and fishing in the lake.
A short ways downstream from here, some of the water can meet Shadow Mountain Dam and slip over the spillway and into
the original channel for the Colorado River flowing to the big meadows now at the bottom of Lake Granby.
The river meets Lake Granby in a long and gentle groove protected from the wind and perfect for boat camping and wake boarding.
Some of the water that had gone down the river channel can make it to the great pumps in Lake Granby and find itself flowing
in this canal after having looped all the way around as though it were in an M. C. Escher drawing. Click here for a presentation
of a home site near the dam that has maps showing the great loop.

Peaceful setting for getting one's thoughts in tune with the real world. This early May photo from 2016 shows the close southern
portion Shadow Mountain Lake all thawed out before the islands.  Click on photo to see inside the home a short walk from here
through the abundant open space around homes at The Shores of Shadow Mountain.

The Shores of Shadow Mountain is an architecturally controlled community.
About a third of the land is designated as community open space, including along the fishing canal
that curves through the area and then enters Shadow Mountain Lake. The custom homes in the area give
the community a high aesthetic standard. This is Grand County's only Lake Front and Canal Front residential community.
The Shores has paved roads, underground utilities and its own community water system.
