Channel waters flowing into Grand Lake at sunset ... This open water is caused by water
being pumped from Lake Granby to Shadow Mountain Lake. The water then flows through a
short channel to Grand Lake. At the far side of Grand Lake is a hidden tunnel which carries
a river of water under the Continental Divide to Estes Park and the Great Plains! During the
Spring and Summer, snowmelt flows from Grand Lake to Lake Granby where some of it is
stored. The overflow is the Colorado River.
