These Pronghorn Sheep/Antelope are North America's relative to the
graceful gazelle of Africa. They are extremely alert and difficult to approach
and photograph. They reportedly have soft and lustrous eyes. This group
is near the small airport on a mesa north of Granby.
These are the fastest animals in the Western Hemisphere! They can burst
at speeds of 60 miles per hour (particularly in our rarefied air). They can
maintain speeds of 30-40 mph over miles of sagebrush which would trip a
human in just a few feet.
