Passang is getting water. The sun is finally hitting the peaks on the far side.
They are about 18,000 feet high. They didn't get any direct sunlight until the sun
had moved all the way down the white face of Jhomolhari. The griffons came
directly across from the sunlit peaks. Colorful prayer flags are on the mound.
The chorten is in the distance over the tents. For the following morning, there
is a trace of snow on the sunlit portions of the peaks. For today's adventure,
Passang, Karma (the horseman) and I are going to hike directly towards Jhomolhari.
As we pass the Trade Minister's camp, he tells me there is nothing up there.
Bob, Linda and Karma (our main guide) opt for a shorter and known route to
some lakes at 15,500 feet across the valley to the left. Click on photo to hike
towards Jhomolhari and to see where the griffons have landed.
