View of the Paro River from one of the window slits of Paro Dzong.
We were fortunate to be there to witness the Black Hat dance performed
deep within the Dzong. It is done for the valley's protection. Hundreds of
monks were seated doing recitations or playing instruments to accompany
a few twirling dancers. An excellent strain of red rice is grown in the fields
shown above. Click on the photo for a morning view of this rich valley.
