***Herbs and Spices***

This is a selection of some of the worlds rarest plants:
   Abyssinian Shrivelfig : The Abyssinian Shrivelfig is a useful potions ingredient.  Before using it,peel, because the skin is a separate chemical that can ruin your potion. 
 
    Alihosty : This plant is special because the leaves are the only part of the plant that isn't poisonous.  The leaves themselves are dangerous, they cause histeria.
 
    Bouncing Bulbs : These plants must be replanted every four weeks, otherwise they reproduce to much, and the planters explode.  This would be bad because as the name deciphers, these bulbs bounce violently when released, and their force is so powerful that it has been suggested that they were used as the first bludgers ever.
 
    Bubotubers :Bubotubers are ugly plants that exudes a yellowish pus, that smells horrid, sort of like petrol.  This pus is a great cure for acne, when diluted, and mixed with mandrake roots, but when used alone, is a dangerous substance that makes boils spring up on any part of your body.  These boils are excruciatingly painful, and unlike many things in the magical world, it takes a long time to cure.
 
    Devils Snare : The Devils Snare is a creeper plant that lives only in dark, cold, and damp places.  It is afraid of fire and light, it grabs it's victims, and slowly captures and squeezes them, the less its victims relax, the faster it kills them.
 
    Dittany : This is an uncommon plant, that is found in One Thousand Magical Herbs And Fungi.
 
    Flutterby Bush : This extraordinary magical plant grows at an unusually rapid pace, and must be trimmed four times a day.  The reason it is called Flutterby Bush, is because it quivers.  This bush looks like the muggles hedge, only it can replant its self at need.
 
    Gillyweed : The Gillyweed is a water plant native to the Mediterranean. It looks like slimy moss-green rat tails, and has no distinct odor.  When eaten, Gillyweed gives you gills and fins, the effect lasts approximately an hour.
 
    Leaping Toadstools : As the name suggests, they are toadstools that leap.  They are often used in Herbology Second year.
 
    Mandrake : The mandrakes cry is fatal to humans so take special care when tending The root is a powerful restaurant, that forms part of most antidotes, one such is the Mandrake Restorative Draft, that returns cursed and transformed people into their normal form.  Mandrakes are grey-purple plants, that sort of resemble babies with roots, and tufts.  They grow at a moderately quick speed, and it only takes a few months for them to become full grown.  As they mature, they will move into each others potters, and throw parties, they will even begin to mate.  At this point, they are ready to be harvested for potions and remedies of all kinds.
 
    Puffapod : These are obese pink pods with seeds.  These plants flourish, because the seeds sprout and turn into flowers almost immediately after they are dropped.
 
    Umbrella sized Flowers : These hang from the roof of green-house three in Hogwarts.  They must be watered every 23 hours.
 
    Venomous Tentacula : This plant is dark red, almost scarlet, and are spiky.  They teeth, and reach their vines out to any one who passes, hoping for a taste of human flesh.  Native to Southern Europe.
 
    Whomping Willow : This is no ordinary willow, this is a large violent willow, that attacks anyone who steps within rage of its cane-like blows its branches make.
