***Harry Potter and the Gem of Godric***

Harry Potter and the Gem of Godric

 Chapter 1, Hedwig’s wing

Harry Potter lived with his wicked aunt and uncle.  They hated Harry all the way down to his blood, for you see, Harry was a wizard!  The most feared Dark Lord, Voldermort, murdered Harry’s parents.  So Harry was forced to live with his only living relatives, the Dursleys.

On the morning of July 31 (Harry’s Birthday), Uncle Vernon said, “That dumb owl’s been hooting all night! If she does tonight, I’ll kick her out!” Under Uncle Vernon’s breath, Harry heard him mumble, “I’d be glad to kick Harry out too!”.
“HEDWIG’S NOT STUPID!” Harry thundered across the kitchen table at his uncle.
“Well, it’s okay, Dad! Harry’d be gone in…,” Dudley, the Dursley’s son started counting on his ten fat fingers, “um, in thirty-nine days!” Dudley said happily.
“No, Dudley,” Harry rolled his eyes, “just thirty-one days, on September first.”

“Well, I’d say that there is at least ONE good thing will happen!” Uncle Vernon said proudly.
“What? You’ll have a better job than working with drills all day?” Harry said with curiosity filling his voice every second.
“No! I’ve been elected chairman of the board!”
 Aunt Petunia clapped happily.
“…And we will have enough money for Harry to rent a room somewhere
FAR away!”

With this, Dudley jumped out of his chair, “You mean, ALL RIGHT,” Dudley started prancing around the room chanting in a congo sort of tune, “There’ll be no more Harry! There’ll be no more Harry! No more stinking wizards, cha cha cha!”
As Harry went up the stairs after breakfast (annoyed by Dudley), he heard a hooting sound.
“HEDWIG!”
Harry dashed up to his room to find Hedwig fluttering her wings in pain. “HEDWIG!” Harry cried again, “Oh, Hedwig, don’t worry! It’s just a ummmm…”
 Harry gasped!

Hedwig’s right wing was bleeding! Gushing more and more blood by the minute!
Harry dashed for the first aid kit in the restroom and dashed back again.  By using what he had learned in the muggle (human) school he used to be in, he wrapped the bandages in the first aid kit around the wound.
“Oh Hedwig, please say you’ll live!” Harry said urgently.

Hedwig only gave a few hoots. This time, however, her hoots didn’t have as much of a shrill sound as the ones just before.
“Good, now rest, I need to send an owl to my friend, Ron.” Harry said with a breath of relief.
“Harry, come down here. NOW!” Uncle Vernon’s voice almost made an echo through the hall.
“Coming!” Harry said and with that, he went down the stairs to the kitchen.

Chapter 2, Phone calls

“Harry, I need to bring you to where you are going to stay,” Uncle Vernon called to Harry, “so pack up all your stuff.”
So, with that single simple order, Harry packed his stuff.  Since he was a wizard, Harry had a lot of wizarding belongings. He packed his broom, his cauldron, his school books, Hedwig’s cage, and most importantly, his magic wand.

Just before Harry left, he got a phone call.  For some strange reason, Uncle Vernon was being nice to Harry.
“Hello?” Harry said through the phone.
“Hi, is Harry there? This is Hermione,” the voice through the phone said strictly.
“Hermione! This is Harry!” Harry said, surprised.
“You won’t believe it! You just won’t believe it!”
 “What is it?”
 “I’m Prefect of Gryffindor!”
 “What! When did this happen?”
“I just got my letter along with the badge about sixteen minutes ago! I’m wearing the badge right now!”
Her voice settled, “So, what’s new with you?”
“I’m going to live in a hotel. The name sounds really fancy. The place is named Black Estates.
 “Sounds cool to me.”
 “Me too! Well, bye!”
 “Bye!”

Then Harry hung up the phone and it rang again.
 “Hello?” Harry said.
In a low whisper, the phone replied,” You’re next!”
“Your next what?” Harry said puzzled.
“I’m out to get you and when I get you, and when I do…” He made the type of noise people do
when they say “off with the head!”
Harry gulped. Then in a worried voice he said “I-I’m not-t afraid of y-y-you!”
“Oh really? Well, what If I’m right outside the door?”
Now Harry was more frightened than before.
The voice in the phone said even more eerily, “I have your wand!”
Now, Harry was petrified. “All right!” Harry said bravely through the phone,
“I bet you’re NOT outside the door, and you DON’T have my wand!”
 “Oh ya! How about looking?”
“Fine! I will!” Harry said as he hung up the phone.
So Harry walked to the door, and carefully peeked outside. There, standing in front of him,
someone was holding his Aunt Petunia in its hands. Aunt Petunia was covered with red blood!
 “You’re next!” the figure said.
Harry started screaming at the top of his lungs.

“Ha ha ha!” the figure said, taking off its mask, revealing its real face. The figure was Dudley!
“Dudley! Why did you kill your mom?” Harry asked Dudley, puzzled.
Aunt Petunia started moving. “Gotcha! Ha ha ha!” Aunt Petunia was walking. “It was just ketchup! Ha ha ha!”
Together Dudley and his mom walked into their house on Privet Drive.
Harry heard pounding coming from the cupboard he used to live in. After Harry unlocked the cupboard, Uncle Vernon’s huge body came through the door.
“Thanks, Harry!” Uncle Vernon said, gladly thanking Harry,. “Now let’s get in the car with NO interruptions!” Uncle Vernon said, getting more serious, “I promised them you’d be there before one o’clock, and it’s noon! It’s a fifty minute drive and if we are late, you’ll still live here,” Uncle Vernon instructed Harry.
So they got into the car as quickly as possible.

Chapter 3, Black Estates

Once he got out of the car, Harry was amazed at the sight of the tall black building he was going to live in.
“Well, that’s it! Now let’s check you in,” Uncle Vernon said, unloading Harry’s belongings onto a trolley.
As they walked in the door, Harry saw a sign that read:

Here at Black Estates we let you
Have only the best of our large
Variety of  beds and rooms. With
Our wait service, We can assure
You only the best of all of London!

“Hello?” Uncle Vernon said, ringing the bell for the manager.
Suddenly a tall, handsome man popped up from the back of the desk.
“May I help you?” he said in a charming voice.
“Yes,” Uncle Vernon replied to the tall man, “ I’m here to check in Harry Potter.”
“Harry Potter, Harry Potter, Harry Potter,” he said, looking through his guest book.
“Ah, here it is, Harry Potter. Room 19, Holiday Suite!”
“Wow! You paid that much, for me! Thanks, Uncle Vernon!” Harry said.
“Well, I didn’t expect that I paid that much!”

“You paid me twenty-seven thousand, seven hundred ninety-six dollars,” the manager reported.
“Really? All that?” Harry asked very questionably.
“Well, actually I paid twenty thousand dollars,” Uncle Vernon said.
“Then who paid the extra seven thousand, seven hundred ninety-six dollars?” Harry asked, very confused.
“I have no idea!” the manager said.
“Well, I’d better be going,” Uncle Vernon said, heading out the door.
“Wait!” Harry called, running to catch up with his uncle.
“What do you want, Harry?  I am letting you sleep in a very fancy hotel with NO Dudley to pick on you!”
Uncle Vernon called to Harry.

“It is going to be really quick, promise! Please! Come on, Uncle Vernon!” Harry said, quickly catching up.
 “Fine then, what is it?”
“Well I was just wondering why you’re being so nice to me!” Harry said as he finally caught up with his
furious Uncle Vernon running for his car.
“Fine!  I’ll tell you! It’s because of your …eh, um, Hogwarts school books.”
“But what do they have to do with you?
“In the “1001 Magical Herbs and Fungi” book…”
“Why did you read them? You forbid me to…”
“Okay, there is this one fungus called trangeris.  It helps you breathe and because I’m, well, on the large side,
I thought your magic would help.”
“What help does it do for you?”
“Because I’m on the large side, I can’t breathe that good. So, I found some near the cupboard ceiling.
The book said to eat it, so I…”
 “Gross!”
“It’s full of protein. Now I can breathe better, so I wanted to thank you.”
“Oh! Thanks, Uncle Vernon! Bye!” Harry said, waving as his uncle waved.
As Harry walked to get his stuff, the manager said, “So you’re a wizard!”

Chapter 4, Sirius Black’s history

“But the- why did I- please don’t tell anyone else, please!” Harry begged the muggle motel manager
who knew Harry’s deepest darkest secret.
“It’s okay, I already knew!” he said, trying to calm Harry down from the knowledge Harry just spread.
“How long have you known?” Harry asked.
 “Ever since you were born!”
 “How do you know?”
“You see Harry, I’m Sirius Black.”
 “No, you’re NOT!”
             Sirius grew ugly-
“And then he became the way he was when he was at the wedding of your parents.”
“I’ll only believe you if you show me Buckbeak.”

“Then I will!” he said, pushing the trolley Harry’s belongings were on to room 19.
“Here’s the key to your room, Harry,” he said, handing to Harry the room key to room 19 of  Black Estates.
Then, the manager saying he was Sirius Black unlocked room 20 and there, sleeping on the floor,
was the gray storm colored hippogriff named Buckbeak.

“Satisfied?” he asked Harry in his charming young voice.
“I still don’t believe it! You’re my godfather, only, younger. What made you age like that?”
Harry asked, with a puzzled look on his face.
“In the forest near here, I was in hiding.”
“That doesn’t answer my question,” Harry said, unloading his belongings.
“I wasn’t finished!” Sirius said, as he started to tell his story of the past two years.

“Well, I mixed up a very special potion that could make you younger. If I were younger,
I wouldn’t have to be in hiding. But, building this hotel did cost money, and I mean muggle money.
So I had to get a muggle job.”
“That sounds terrible!”
“It was actually quite nice.  I got a job as a chef, who cooks food. Working as a chef made me a fortune of muggle money.  Since I wanted to raise you myself, with that money I was able to hire some muggles to build this hotel!”
“But wouldn’t muggles identify you by your name?”
“Why yes.  That’s why I changed my name to James Black.”

Suddenly an owl fluttered to the window. Once Harry opened it, the owl fluttered away.
“It’s a message from Hogwarts,” Harry told Sirius.
“Go on! What does it say, boy?”
“It’s a list of what fifth years require.”
“Well, what are they?”

“Sirius, why are you acting hyper?”
“Ah, good question young wizard, so let me tell you.  I have only thirty-one days to get to know you.
For now I am your guardian.  And I want to know all about you, Harry.”
“Before we shop for my school supplies, can you help Hedwig? Her right wing was bleeding and I can’t stop it.”
“Well, I would if I could.”
“What does that mean, Siri- um- James?”
“I lost my wand during my escape with Buckbeak. So, I can’t do magic.”
“That sounds sad.”
“Yes, but to help me with my magic during these years, I had some help from another wizard in this very hotel!
“What’s his or her name?” Harry asked at a climax in the story.
“I do not know her true name.  I only know her as Grand Elusa.”
“Sounds powerful.”
“You don’t even know the first of it!”

Chapter 5, Grand Elusa

“Well, why can’t I meet her now?” Harry demanded.
“Who said you couldn’t?” James told Harry, raising Harry’s hopes higher and higher.
“Er, um, no one?”
“See, NO ONE is holding you back from meeting her.”
“Really! Oh thanks, James,” Harry said as he dashed out of the room, eager to meet Grand Elusa.

“Wait a second,” Harry said, freezing in his tracks. “How am I to find Grand Elusa in this in particular HUGE hotel? Which room is she in?” Harry asked, wanting only the truth so that he can meet this wonderful woman named Grand Elusa.
“I thought you’d never ask!” James said. “She’s in room 10.”
“Thanks!” Harry said as he dashed straight out of the door.

As Harry walked down the hotel corridors, he smelled the lovely incense of a flower. He could not place his finger on what type of flower it was, though. He thought it was a very rare species of flower, but what was it? The strangest part was that the smell grew stronger with his every step.
“I wonder what that flower is doing in here? Could it been foreign? I know! It’s probably coming from the garden,” Harry said out loud.

So, instead of visiting Grand Elusa, Harry headed straight towards the garden. As he neared the garden, the smell grew fainter.
“Why would that smell leave my nostrils when I headed for the garden, but then come back when I enter the hotel?” Harry said out loud in front of the muggles standing in the garden. “I know! I’ll ask Siri..” Harry caught himself. He had almost said Sirius Black’s name in front of muggles. Two years ago, when Sirius escaped from the wizard prison, Azkaban, wizards posted on the news that he had escaped from a muggle prison. So if they knew about Sirius, Harry would have to live with the Dursleys again. “James! I’ll ask James about the smell.”

Then Harry dashed to his room in the hotel. “James Black? Mr. Black, are you here?” Harry asked. “He’s probably in Buckbeak’s room,” Harry said, opening the door to Buckbeak’s room.

All Harry saw was Buckbeak.
Then Buckbeak opened his eyes!
Harry yelled at the top of his lungs. Buckbeak was going to attack Harry!
Quickly, Harry tried to remember what Hagrid had taught him about training hippogriffs.

As Harry remembered, he did it. First, bow. BE SURE NOT TO BLINK AS YOU STARE THEM IN THE EYE! Then wait for them to bow back. So Harry waited for Buckbeak to bow. Then he remembered: If the hippogriff doesn’t bow back to you, BACK AWAY FOR YOUR LIFE! Harry started backing away, but just before he got out of the room, Buckbeak bowed back.
 “Phew!” Harry was relieved.

Then he remembered James. Then, forgetting the flower, he went to see Grand Elusa.
Harry knocked on the door of room 10. “Hello? Grand Elusa?”
 There was no answer.
“Hello? Grand Elusa? It’s me, Harry Potter.”
“Come in, my dear,” said a rather shy voice.
As Harry opened the door, he saw a woman looking young, wise, generous, caring, kind, and gentle.
He saw that she was having tea. Sitting at the other side of the table was James Black.
“Well, hello Harry!” James said in a very cheerful sort of tune. “We thought you would come sooner.”
“When did you get here, James?” Harry asked in puzzlement.
“Harry, Harry, Harry. Tut, tut, tut. Didn’t you know of ANY of the secret passages?” James said to Harry.
 “Well, no.” Harry confessed.

“I’d like some time alone with the boy, James, or should I say, Sirius?”
Grand Elusa whispered in James’s ear, trying to make it so that they only heard each other.
“James. We need to set a good impression for Harry,” James said to Grand Elusa through the tip of his lips.
“Then it is,” she whispered back.

“What are you talking about?” Harry asked. “Should I stay or not?”
“Oh no, please stay,” Grand Elusa ordered Harry. “You must try my cloworer tea.”

“Cloworer tea, what’s that?” Harry asked, curious to learn more about this creature.
“Where shall I begin?” Grand Elusa said to herself. “Ah, yes.” She cleared her throat.
“Cloworer tea is made of a magical flower called cloworer. Cloworer is a special plant that
used to only grow on an island called Karbassa. Karbassa is a magical island on which many
ancient wizards lived with wise prophecies which helped their everyday lives.”

“How old were those wizards’ prophecies?” Harry asked.
“As old as some of the first wizards ever to walk this planet,” Grand Elusa told Harry.
With this, Harry widened his eyes with curiosity. He wanted to know more about these wizards and their magical island.
“Karbassa is found straight in the middle of where the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean meet. It is said that almost all of the mer-people live near that island.

" The cloworer looks like a normal plant but it has a bundle of leaves that
cover a small portion of its blossoms. If you open the blossom during harvest season on just the right day, you will have a small little stone. These stones hold a rare power. Each stone holds about five times the power of ten pureblood witches and wizards combined! There called powering stones.

"There are many types of stones, one of each type comes from a different cloworer. To keep its precious stone within its petals, so it can keep the magical land of Karbassa alive, it shoots off rare spinning multi-colored rays of the light through the petals. These rays shoot out of the edge of each leaf. If you look at one of these lights for over five minutes at a time, you will become dizzy and faint.

"Cloworer leaves can be used as an aging potion so that you grow younger. You must have a freshly picked leaf and chew it ALL up quickly as you can. Or you could grind them up to make tea. It depends on how you prepare the leaf.”

"That was wonderful story,” Harry said clapping,“ Um, James, there was this smell in the hallway. It smelled wonderful!
Do you know what it was?”
“It was a cloworer,” James said.
“But she said they only grow on Karbassa,” Harry said, very puzzled.

“You see, Harry, I used to live on Karbassa,” Grand Elusa said.
"I moved here because I’m going to be your Defense Agsainst Dark Arts teacher, Harry. And when I moved, I brought some cloworer seeds with me.” She removed a curtain in the corner of the room.  "These are cloworers, Harry,” she said. pointing at the plants behind the drape.

“They're what made me younger, Harry,” James said out loud in a rather chirpy voice.
“Harry,” Grand Elusa said, “ for Defense Against Dark Arts you’ll need a powering stone of your own.”
She handed Harry a powering stone. "His name is Godric.”

Harry examined Godric. He was a type of ruby. He glowed brighter and brighter in Harry’s hand.
“Each stone has a special power. Examples: Growthar makes things grow; Shirnknian makes things smaller than they should be. Do you understand?”
 Harry nodded.
 “Good,” Grand Elusa said.

“So what does MY stone do?” Harry asked.
“It is one of the stories I hoped you wanted to hear about!” Grand Elusa said happily.

Chapter 6, Galator, Fireblast,
Thunderpaw, Godric, and Christy

“Your stone Godric is one of  the greatest powering stones ever!” Grand Elusa began.
“Really?” Harry asked, starting to get comfortable on a chair next to the fireplace.
“In the heart of the cloworer fields, there is a huge cloworer.  The bigger the cloworer, the more powerful the gem.
This cloworer produced gems with grave power.  Their names were Galator, Christy, Fireblast, Godric, and Thunderpaw.  They have power as great as Merlin and his family.
 Harry’s eyes opened.

“Well, I’d rather tell you the story in class.  Good-bye, Harry,” she said, pushing Harry out of the door.
"The cloworers in here will give you a headache.”
That night, as Harry was lying in the four-poster bed in his room in Black Estates, he examined Godric.

How could he have power?  What lied beneath the gleaming gem?

Chapter 7, Hogwarts Express

As the days went by, Harry’s eagerness to ride on the Hogwarts Express doubled.
He wanted to see the faces of his friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
