*** History of Magic ***
Welcome to History of Magic!
Your teacher is Professor Lown.

All years will work on the same assignment:

A young teacher of about twenty walks into the room. Her wavy blonde hair goes to the middle of her back. She stands with a proud demeanor at her desk. After a moment or two she clears her throat and gets our attention. Then she starts to talk. “Welcome to History of Magic. I am your new professor. My proper name is Jinx Keiko Lunaluz Martiniquena Ninetta, (here come the middle names, she chuckles,) Oriolea Pluto Quintessa Rosey Sympathey Topaz Lown. All you have to remember is to call me Professor JK Lown. Today we will learn about The Development of Magic.” She turns around to the chalkboard and writes, ‘ Chapter 1. Page 3.’ When she turns around she says in a soothing voice, “ Please turn to page 3.” The sound of pages being turned fills the room.
When she sees that everyone is looking back at her she starts to read, “ In the early-…”
A smart looking young man raises his hand and asks; “Must we learn this today?”
Professor Lown reply’s, “ When will you learn it?”
“Tomorrow?” he answers meekly.
She shakes her head and begins reading it again. “In the early days of time many people were gifted with magic but few actually knew what to do with it. As they walked down the road their magical spirit might have left their body because it was not being cherished by the owner of it. About one Ammo Domino magic became very scarce. Most people believe that the island of Atlantis became their home. Actually the people were not at Atlantis but in the Americas. The nations in the Eastern Hemisphere had not found the country yet. When the Natives came they did not find the magic folk harmful. Only when the English man came did he find cause to kill the magic folk. Once again magic folk sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and came back to Europe. Now we have many schools in Europe and the surrounding continents that have helped us learn how to control and use the magic although now it is actually part of your blood. The people that first cultivated magic for this country and plowed out the way for others was Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Slather Slytherin. They established Hogwarts. Now we keep magic under as close a safe-guard we possibly can so that peeping Muggle eyes will be satisfied to know that their world is safe from any harm.” “Yeah right,” she added in disgust. She then spoke cheerfully, “Please copy down what I write on the board. It will be your homework.”

ASSIGNMENT:
1.    Name at least two other magical schools in the Eastern Hemisphere.
2.    Go to the library and look up a spell that was and is used to keep Muggles away from magic.
3.    Tell me all that you have learned in a paragraph. Any more than a paragraph I will give some extra credit. The paragraphs must have four complete sentences.
Extra Credit:
1.    I want you to tell me what ‘Ammo Domino’ means and what language it comes from. You will be awarded ten House Points.
