“Welcome to Herbology Class. My name is Professor Sperling.
I would like each of you to find a seat at one of the potting benches. As
you can see Greenhouse One is the greenhouse used for first year students
and houses the least dangerous plants grown at Hogwarts. All those higher,
we will be moving on to the other greenhouses once the year gets on. This
greenhouse is set up with potting benches in the middle of the room and a
large teacher potting bench in the front of the greenhouse. The walls have
shelves and cabinets that hold your student supplies of dragon dung, fertilizer,
empty pots, aprons, hoses, and other greenhouse supplies. On the shelves
are hundreds of plants that are being grown for their medicinal and magical
qualities. Behind my potting shelf is a cabinet that holds my personal supplies.
Please do not take supplies from this cabinet."
As Professor Sperling walks toward her bench in the front
of the greenhouse, the students notice that she is wearing a flower-printed
robe with a work apron and a straw hat on her blonde curly hair. Poking out
of her apron are a pair of shears, a spade, a pair of dragon gloves, a small
hoe, some seed packets, and a wand. There is a bit of dirt on the side of
her nose. Professor Sperling is a friendly, young and cheerful professor-
