***Defense Against Dark Arts***
Welcome to Defense Against Dark Arts!!!!!
This is the class in which you learn to defend yourself against the dark arts.

"Last year, we briefly brought up the topic of the Evil Eye. This year, we are going to cover it." Professor Ready handed out odd Egyptin hyrioglyfics out R's with eyes, "This is the Eye of Horus. It is considered the best protection against the Evil Eye. If you wear this symbol as a pendant (usaually a necklace), you are perfectly safe from the Evil Eye. Other ways to protect yourself include: shamrocks, garlic, unocorn horn, or dehydrated frogs. Infact, bells could be used to distract te bearer of the Evil Eye. If they are trying to curse you with their glance, jingling bells with distract them; all of these protections bring you safety.
"But what exactly is the Evil Eye?" Professor Ready then looked at a nearby plant and looked at it with anger. Many of the students considered this silly-- some girls even giggled. Then there was an exploding sound. Everyone looked over at the plant; it had singe marks covering it and a few leaves on fire. "That is the kind of effect the Evil Eye can bring.
"The Evil Eye is a standard spell taught to dark wizards. If they do not perfect the spell on their own (perfecting it requires them to sacrifice one of their eyes and two human hearts), then they were amulets, like I have." Professor Ready unclipped the necklace, and then passed it around the class. Younoticed that it was like a cross, only it had a glowing green eye in the center. As you pass the pendant on, to the boy next to you, he clips it onto himself, and then focusses on your hand.
Suddenly you get a surging pain covering your arm; it was like dipping yourself into boiling oil.
"Are you all right?" Professor Ready asks.
You wimper out a yes.
Professor Ready glances over to the boy next to you, and barks, "that will be a weeks detention. Leave the classroom now, and repot immediately to the Trophy Room. It's getting a little dirty in there." The Professor then turns to you. "It's just a minor singe. Go over to the Hospital Wing, and ask the nurses for an Iced Flame to rub across your wounds." As you go, you grab a parchment with the homwork attatched.

Assignment:
1) What is the most powerful tool against the Evil Eye?
2) What type of magic is using the Evil Eye considered?
3) Why haven't you learned how to preform the Evil Eye yet?
Essay: Why did the plant catch fire whenever the student got singed?
Extra Credit: What is an Iced Flame? What is it used for?
