Here is a very useful charm that I have come across. When used properly, it creates a shield between you and your adversary, protecting you from most attacks. To conjure it, wave your wand in a clockwise circle, starting at about your waist, swinging wide and then tightening your spiral to about your chest level, then snapping your wand upright. The shield will hold at its strongest for about ten seconds after you conjure it and if you keep your wand rigidly upright. If you choose to bring your wand back to prepare for a second attack, your shield will weaken but stay up for at least five seconds. If you keep you wand upright, you shield will stay rather strong for an extended period of time but will weaken as it absorbs attacks and will drain you of a respectable amount of energy. Excellent to use in duels when you need to block an unexpected attack. Some weaker, propellant charms will bounce off of the shield; more powerful, blossom-style attacks will be absorbed. Your shield could break if a blossom-style attack is more powerful than your magic power will allow your shield to be. Curses often can sneak around the edges, so be careful. Experiment defending against various jinxes, charms, and curses. Your shield can also be broken if it absorbs several strong attacks, is struck suddenly by a powerful propellant charm, or sometimes even dissolved by some curses and jinxes. The wand movement is rather complex, so I suggest you practice it before relying on it in a practical application.
