The Good Girl
By Savanah Watters
Susan
was in her 3rd year at Hogwarts. She was a pretty normal witch except...She
had no friends, no family, she was a prefect and Head girl she got straight
A’s, she wore glasses, had tons of freckles, had braces and red hair. So
naturally, Susan was a teacher’s best friend. So one day, Susan was going
to Potions and she dropped all of her books. Then Jameson came and helped
her pick them up.
“Thank
You James”, she said. Then she walked away curiously. Normally he would laugh
at her if she dropped her books. Susan walked in to Prof. Dibbin’s classroom.
Everyone else was already there and very quiet. Then Amanda, who was in the
front row, said, “Hi Susan! This seat’s empty.” Susan sat there quickly then
looked at Amanda and the boy beside Susan, Jeffery.
“Turn to page 213 in your books”, announced Prof.Dibbin. Susan did so while
wondering why her class was being so kind to her lately.
Just the
day before Kyle said that he liked her report for the Hogwarts News. Also,
Shahib said that she liked Susan’s hair. Susan finished her Potions class
and went outside to read. Susan always reads under this one tree that is
only a few feet away from the forest. Under this tree, Susan sat reading
when all of a sudden millions of little pieces of paper came pouring on her.
She screamed, got up, and looked at a piece of paper it said: Miss Perfect!
She looked at another one: Ugly! And another: You are a horrible person
Then she
put her hands over her face and ran into the school and into the girls’ washroom
crying. She knew it was just a horrible pile of rude names and comments but
still it hurt and she sat crying for hours. ‘Who would do such a thing?’
she thought. Whoever it was, Susan would get them back. Even if it meant
getting expelled....’Wait, I don’t want to get expelled. But I have to do
something to get revenge, without actually doing anything against any rules.’
Susan
thought hard.....really hard...then it came to her. She ran out of the bathroom,
down the hall, up the stairs, around the corner and into her common-room.
She went up to the girls’ dormitory and into her trunk. Then she pulled out
a roll of parchment and a quill. Next, she sat on her bed and started making
a plan, a safe plan, but a really good plan to get back at the people who
did it. Susan was up all night and missed breakfast so she could sleep for
an hour. She went to all her classes and wasn’t late for one. She worked
quickly and quietly like normal. And when night came, and everyone else was
asleep, she wrote some invitations:
Susan placed one on Amanda’s pillow, Shahib’s pillow and on all the other
girl’s pillows. Then she quietly put the other invitations out on the boys’
stairs. Then she went to sleep. Susan got up first and went down to the Great
Hall next morning. She knew this was the perrrrrfect plan if it worked out.
When 3:00 came, Susan zoomed outside to the tree she always sits under and
waited....and waited...and waited. Until finally, she saw the group of them
coming towards her from the side exit. Susan jumped up and brushed off her
cloak. Oh how she wished they would go faster.
In 1 minute,
they were there, all 14 of them, staring impatiently at her. Some of them
seemed kind of nervous. Then what seemed out of nowhere, Susan started talking;
“Well, I bet you’re all wondering why I invited you here. You’ve come so
I can get back at you for what you did to me. Now don’t go running away.
You’ll be surprised. Don’t make it sound like I’m babbling on. Make something
out of every word I say. So, my revenge is...is...ummm....okay...my revenge
is friendship. It is revenge because it’s the opposite of what you wanted.
Friendship can be anything you see it as. Good or bad. Sooo... say something.
They stared at her blankly. Then they all looked at each other. Amanda nodded
to them then looked at Susan and replied, “Why not?”
They smiled
at Susan and Susan smiled back. They all apologized for the trick and Susan
accepted. From then on, Susan was happy. With her good grades and 14 friends,
she had lots of reasons to feel good about herself.
