The West Side of Rocky Mountain National Park has an immense U-shaped, glacial valley
that gathers the current for the Colorado River. This long and verdant valley, The Kawuneeche Valley,
broadens as it runs southward beyond The Park. It runs parallel to Shadow Mountain Lake a short ways
to the west on the far side of a low ridge. One may build a home on the level part of the ridge and have
