When you come out of the channel and enter Grand Lake, there is plume of open water for kayakers to explore,

There is only a small road between Shadow Mountain Lake and the 4 cabins on the property closest to this lake.

The channel is the place to be seen. Being ON the channel puts you in the middle of the action.
During the summer, an amazing number of boats make the passage between Shadow Mountain Lake
and Grand Lake. Once people get their boats in the water, they want to see everything and enjoy as
much time as possible on the water. The channel is a no-wake zone, so passengers will not fail to
miss the highly visible location featured here (its banks can be seen under the bridge to the right).
The channel has the benefit of having a year-round boating season. This is because it never freezes
over during the winter. Even in January, one can find fishermen by rainbow bridge and the Point Park
footbridge. Fishing is excellent because the water flow is greatly enhanced by the pumping of water
for the long-running Colorado Big Thompson River Project.

An ordinary home on Grand Lake is allowed just one dock!
