When people arrive, the WOW factor immediately sets in. (scroll down for views)
The sweeping panorama of lakes, mountains and sky makes vows spoken here feel as if they are truly made in the presence of God Almighty.
Spread out 400 feet below is a thousand acre ranch and Colorado River wetlands favored by moose, elk and deer.
One can gaze over all three of our Great Lakes: a bit of Grand Lake, the best of Shadow Mountain Lake and much of Lake Granby.
The view is rimmed by high mountains and distant cloud formations. Regardless of how the lighting and alpenglow plays out,
your time enjoyed here will stand out and will remain in your memory because only a few have been here.

Scroll down to look up on the chateau from a lower portion of its land.

The chateau is a private residence. Its Great Room has a large central fireplace with seating all the way around it.
The largest turret in the photos projects outward with 5 windows on each level bringing in the panoramic view.
Each level can be used for elegant dining. Temporary tables can be set in the Great Room for additional seating.
On the walk-in lower level, there is a "fiesta room" with a large roll up door to the outside.
It is perfect for  additional seating or as a staging area for caterers. Weather permitting, there is a large sunny deck supported by
heavy timbers with a large covered area below the high deck. There are also conversation areas in the
4 foot wide stairway leading up to the deck. The land around the home is landscaped so as to make it inviting to walk around and to give
participants (and photographers) many angles and approaches. There is a wide terrace in front of the home.

North side of the upper level has matching bedrooms in each corner with interior ceilings that rise up like a pyramid.
The center window is in a full bath that can be partitioned to form a front half bath and a back portion with a very private tub and shower room.
The lower wood-framed window is to a large bath on the home's ground level. The lower level is handicap friendly with a 3 foot
doorways and an extra-large shower. When the snow is gone, one can wheel around the home to within two steps of its grand deck.

The stairway turret (hidden from view in the photo directly above) has a life-like tree in its interior and huge leaf-shaped steps.
Torched lights are set at an angle from its stone interior. Exquisite lights for outside will be mounted in spring of 2013.
Everything from swan shaped faucets to the fine woods has been selected to elevate one's senses.
The deck railing will have vertical strips of glass to create an inviting open look.
The level driveway surface below the deck will be finished with paving stones.
Live plants will complete the landscaping. Home is designed and owned
by a semi-professional photographer with an eye towards creating a range of photo moments.

Wide walking paths branch out away from the home to the several terraces below the home.
Guests will appreciate being able to spread out where they can have private conversations while
still being in sight of the home. Family reunions are essential times for everyone to have room
for intimate conversations concerning the years ahead. When you visit, you will not be rushed.
You will be given a reasonable rate to stay for as long as you need to bring everyone together.
Recreational opportunities are all around with each month and time of the day offering
its unique alpine moments.

Scroll down for a wider view. Framed through the arbor is Shadow Mountain Lake. To the right is Lake Granby.
Off to the left is a large arched doorway.  The ski lift chairs are from Winter Park's Apollo Lift.
Ski lift cable is used for all of the stairway railings. Colorful yet retired skis mark the property corners and pathways.
The paving stones are not yet set in the photo above. The "stumps" can be rolled away as needed. The arbor is designed to hold flowers.

The interior of the home in 2012 has been been busy with construction activity in every room.

Physical Address: #946 Serendipity Drive (County Road 454), Grand Lake, Colorado.
This is a very private setting about one air mile west of Shadow Mountain Lake.
You'll love the panoramic views over a 1000 acre ranch and all three of our Great Lakes
to the high peaks in Rocky Mountain National Park, The Indian Peaks Wilderness and
the snowy mountains near Winter Park and beyond.

Driving directions: from Highway 34 near the northwest corner of Lake Granby, turn west onto paved County Road 4.
This intersection is about five miles south of Grand Lake and 11 miles north of Granby. There is a large storage center at the intersection.
Two restaurants are a quarter of a mile away. An excellent National Recreation Area Campground with a paved boat ramp along Lake Granby
is a half mile to the south. Road 4 is a popular year round access road to Arapaho National Forest for camping, 4 wheeling and snowmobiling.

To reach the Singing Elf Inn Chateau, follow Road 4 for two miles and a couple of hundred yards more into the National Forest
where there is a convenient information board with details about trails and camping.A few yards beyond the sign board pullout,
County Road 454 is on your right. (The structure a few feet in on Road 454 is a garage for the large snowcat machines for
grooming the snowmobile trails that run from here to Grand Lake.) Follow Road 454 for a full mile to reach the chateau.
The first 3/10ths of a mile slope gently downhill to a ranch gate; this portion of Road 454 is in the National Forest.
There is a nice campsite and walking trails near the old ranch gate. The remaining 7/10ths of a mile rises steadily yet
not too steeply to the chateau at the top of the hill. This portion of the road is along private property. The perimeter
of the five acres for the chateau will be well marked with vertical skis. There is ample room for parking along the 220 feet of
road frontage and in the long driveway up the last portion of the hill. A special cleared area away from structures, vehicles
and wind is being prepared for helicopter landings in the center of the property. One will be able to look down upon it at a safe distance
from the chateau and its terraces to witness spectacular arrivals and departures.

Family owned off-road vehicles can be used on the property's marked trails after signing the appropriate insurance waivers.
One can ATV or snowmobile directly from the site onto Road 454 and into the vast array of National Forest Trails west of Grand Lake.
Regular vehicles can be driven many miles on the main National Forest Roads and to the beginning of meadows from which guests can hike
a short ways to the high tundra.Wildlife is abundant. Give it some distance so that it doesn't feel threatened by your presence.
Hunting is not permitted on the property or anywhere along Road 454.
There are houses hidden a short ways off the road; hikers may be on the forest trails.

The home is a full one mile from any power lines. All of its electric power comes from the sun.
Unused power is stored in huge batteries to power the home at night and when it is cloudy or snowing.
Although this power has proven to be adequate to run all of the tools during the home's construction,
it has its limits. Visitors are requested to not challenge the system by plugging in lots of their devices.
In particular, although there is ample room for RV parking, these vehicles must be completely self contained.
Heating, cooking and hot water needs are managed using buried propane tanks.

A buried water tank is available for supplemental water usage. It has its own gasoline powered pump for fire protection,
and on special occasions for making rainbows and other unique water effects.
